EXPERIENCE FURAHARAKATI
Because pain does not have to be a part of aging
FURAHARAKATI seeks to provide accessible, community-based group exercise programs to older adults through collaborating with communities in an effort to reduce bone and joint pain and increase social engagement among older adults.

Promoting strength, improving mobility, and decreasing pain

FURAHARAKATI AT A GLANCE
Addressing a growing need in a growing population
Here at FURAHARAKATI, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2018, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to improve the lives of elders through exercise.
The world's population is growing older. As people live longer, the elder population grows and they encounter more challenges to their health and wellbeing - but with limited resources to prevent, mitigate, and address these challenges. Research has shown that the most common medical condition that Ugandan elders experience is bone and joint pain. In addition to this physical pain, a great deal of this population also experiences depression and feelings of loneliness. These conditions significantly impair elders’ quality of life. FURAHARAKATI addresses these issues by offering group exercise class plans as well as integrated support and resources.
